This dive site is suitable for both beginner and expert divers. The most amazing part of MaayaThila is the south pinnacle, rising from 30 meters up to 16 meters and which is covered with bush and table corals.

Hafsathila

Renowned by divers all over the world, HafsaThila is a jewel of a dive site. Get ready for your fix of grey reef sharks encounters!Grey reef sharks, Jacks and trevallies, tunas, fusiliers, Moray eels, Oriental sweetlips, Scorpion fish, Eagle rayl.

Halaveli wreck

The Halaveli wreck, originally the “Highly 18”, is a cargo vessel sunk by the Halaveli Diving Center in 1991.  It sits upright with the bow facing northwest, 17 meters from the reef.  The deck is at 21 meters and the bottom is on sand at 28 meters

A small turtle has made a home for itself on the Halaveli Wreck and a couple of large morays have also taken up residence.  Some coral has already taken hold, most noticeably some pretty soft coral on the telegraph.The trip to wreck will take around 1.30hrs.

What makes the dive here thrilling is that it has the highest underwater visibility and seeing the hammerheads will give you both goose bumps and amusement.While you are hovering over the reefs, you can find a school of hammerheads circling over you, blocking out the sunlight over your shoulders. Large groups of Hammerhead sharks usually come before sunrise. During the early hours, there you can witness schools of black snapper, dogtooth tunas and the entertaining dolphins. You will also get the chance to swim with wonderful groups of fish like the barracudas, fish leave tunas, napoleon wrasse, ribbon eels, small tunas, jacks, trevally’s, pelagic creatures and the white tip reef shark as well. The trip to site will take around 1.00hr.

Fish-head

It is a coral hill (Thila) lying on a sandy bottom at 40 meters, the top of this hill being at 8 to 12 meters.  It is inside the atoll but in front of an important channel of the atoll, so the current can sometimes be really strong at Fish Head.  Due to the strong current and it’s position, the dive is spectacular.

There are lots of caves on the sides with a great variety of marine life hiding in them.  The current pleases a school of grey reef sharks, all females, as well as an incredible quantity of fusiliers and other schools of hunting fishes like big snappers, tuna and jack fishes. The main attraction is the quantity of fish on this reef.  Fish soup would be the correct term here, variety, quantity, quantity and more….it’s often impossible to see your buddy only a few meters away due to a wall of fish.

 

Bathalamaagaukaanthila

BathalaThila has something to please everyone from beginners to experienced divers, from photographers to adrenalin junkies. The currents can be strong so it’s not an easy dive but our experienced instructors make the dive possible for all even those with not so much experience. Everyone loves BathalaThila. The dive trip will take about 1.30hrs

Gangehichanel

Kandu are channels between the islands, reefs or atolls. In these channels we have often strong currents which are attracting big fishes. These currents allow us to have amazing drift dives and to “fly” through the channel: a very special feeling. Close toGangehi we are diving regularly Gangehi North, also named GangehiKandu and we encounter often big fishes like grey reef sharks, eagle rays and also napoleonswith a bit of luck we can also admire a leopard shark or manta rays.

Ukulhasthila

Along the northeastern outer rim of Ari Atoll is a long chain of underwater reefs which pop up from the 30-meter bottom at regular intervals. UkulhasThila is one such long pinnacle. The 300-meter long thila has a relatively flat top at around 15 meters with a slope that steps down to 25 meters and 30 meters. Currents can be strong and the seas turbulent here as there is little protection. Divers may have to begin their dive up-current from the thila and drift quickly down to the protection of the reef. Only for experienced and advanced divers.

Manta block

Is an easy and beautiful dive site for beginners also but the current here is always strong. The top is 12m and you can find huge coral blocks here and the mantas circling around them when they appear.

Ukulhas corner

The ukulhas corner is also close by and the dive site can be enjoyed by all levels of divers. It’s possible to see guitar sharks and many schools of fishes.

Dhefarudheythere

This dive site also allows all level of divers to be down here to enjoy the amazing overhangs here with lots of soft corals hanging from the walls. You cannot find much fish here but the coral life is very colorful here to enjoy the scenery.
